I got a story to tell, no one can tell it for me. ~ The Lyrical Apostle~

When you are a heart person, you do heart work with the intent to connect with hearts, touch hearts, change hearts, and heal hearts. I believe you are most effective when you put your heart into whatever you do. There's a level of authenticity that must be communicated when you're trying to reach people. This was my goal when I decided to write, "From A Child Of An Addict To A Child Of The King". I had a story to tell and no one could tell it for me.

From A Child Of An Addict To A Child Of The King is a poignant memoir that aims to cultivate and motivate anyone and everyone who has experienced addiction in one way or another. Oftentimes, we pause in our trauma because we feel stuck in our circumstances with no knowledge of how to escape. Many of us, children of addicts, have been victimized by our circumstances. It is our untold story that holds our voice, our power, hostage so through this journey, I invite you to tell your story and then give others a voice by inviting them to tell theirs. I found my voice by simply admitting, that I am the child of an addict, a heroin addict to be exact.

When you first admit to yourself that you are the child of an addict, you acknowledge that this was out of your control and that's where healing starts. There should be no shame associated with you experiencing secondhand addiction. You were not given the choice of whether or not to be born to an addict. This is a journey of empowerment! I empowered myself because I had no one to empower me leaving me with no other choice if I wanted to change my position from victim to victor.

Burying my dad alone at the age of 19 was not easy and is never going to be easy revisiting it via memory. Thinking back, I was prayerful which made me confident enough to get through it, but it was the hardest task I'd ever had to take on. I know that countless others have been through far worse than I have but we are all connected at the same gate, fear. Journey with me and find out how I refused to allow fear to bury me with my dad. Learn how I dealt with the hand that was dealt to me. Take this journey with me, then encourage others to journey with us by reading, From A Child Of An Addict To A Child Of The King. Let's connect to this journey to awaken the fighter in others whose stories have yet to be told. Together, we will always overcome.
